Zebra Translations celebrates its 10th anniversary

When three colleagues found themselves out of work in January 1999, following the liquidation of their employer, a translation company, they couldn’t have foreseen that it would take them a mere four weeks to set up their own business. And only in their wildest dreams did they imagine that ten years later they would be running one of the UK’s most highly regarded translation companies.

And yet that dream came true. Right from the start, Zebra Translations received wholehearted support from both clients and suppliers. After initially sharing premises with another small business it moved in 2000 to its own suite of offices in Hitchin. It was formed initially as a partnership of the three founders, but became incorporated in 2002 and has continued to enjoy steady growth and build up a base of loyal customers, many of whom are well-known international companies.

Zebra made the decision early on to specialise in the medical and pharmaceutical sectors, in order to be able to develop knowledge and experience in its personnel and build up a panel of highly qualified external translators.

Part of its strength is undoubtedly that it has stuck to its original business model of focusing on quality in translation rather than quantity, and of using highly experienced, specialist translators. Zebra also has an in-house team of linguists who focus on quality control, ensuring the excellence of translations with which the name Zebra has become synonymous. Evidence of the esteem in which Zebra is held by its clients is the fact that the vast majority of new business comes from referrals.

As Zebra celebrates its tenth anniversary, its directors and staff would like to thank both clients and suppliers for their support through the years. We look forward to many more years of providing excellence in translation.

Too busy to celebrate properly... ...but there's always time for chocolate cake!
